Can organizers suggest matches for specific attendees?
Yes! Organizers can suggest that specific attendees meet (or don't meet) on the "Attendees" tab under "Actions." Note, you won't see this option available until 2 or more attendees have registered for your event. Meetaway's algorithm prioritizes organizer suggestions over nearly all other matching variables so the people you want to meet will (nearly) always meet.FeaturedAre the matches pre-set before the event?
No. Meetaway's matches are always made in real-time so we automatically account for no-shows, late arrivals, and early exits. This also means we can accommodate requests to extend conversations and rematch early. This approach also enables attendees to update their preferences for who they want to meet right when they're checking in for the event, which is when they have the strongest opinions on what they want to get out of the event. Furthermore, we can know 2 people want to meet (or the oFew readersWhy didn’t one of my attendees match with someone who they requested?
We do our best to accommodate the preferences of all attendees and, in fact, most attendees rate their Meetaway experience 10/10, largely because we deliver the conversations they want. That said, there are 3 primary reasons a particular attendee might not meet with someone they requested to meet: The Desired Attendee No Showed - when an attendee does not show up, none of the people who requested to meet that attendee will be able to have the conversation. Meetaway's directory puts attendees in control.Few readersIf Meetaway is matching for 1:1 conversations, how do you handle an odd number of attendees?
In addition to smart options to deal with an odd number of attendees, Meetaway is also able to handle attendees who show up late or attendees who end up stranded if a partner leaves mid-conversation. We put organizers in control of how this is handled. In situations with an odd number of attendees, organizers can handle a variety of ways: Permit 3 person conversations - Meetaway will ask pairs in conversation if they'd like to let another attendee join their conversation Only allow 2 persoFew readersCan organizers give sponsors and other VIPs preferential matching?
Yes! In addition to picking specific matches for attendees, organizers can designate attendees as having "VIP Matching." In Meetaway's system, this designation prioritizes these attendees preferences and ensures they meet more of who they want to meet. In practice - as long as the attendees they indicate they want to meet with do not specifically avoid them and of course actually show up to the event, then there is very high likelihood that those VIPs will meet exactly who they want to meet.Few readersCan I hide the directory so attendees can't choose who they want to meet?
Yes, organizers can toggle whether the "Directory" is visible under "Advanced Options" on the "Edit Event" tab. When it's hidden, attendees won't see this step during the check-in flow so they won't be prompted to choose the specific people they meet. This is a good solution if you want matches to be random or when you don't want attendees to see who is attending and / or how many people are attending.Few readersHow many matching tags should I add?
The ideal number of matching tags primarily depends on the size of the event: 2-8 tags 6-12 tags 10-20 tags 15-30 tags We recommend targeting a specific number of tags, in total, no matter whether they're in a single category or across multiple. Use your judgement around which tags/categories are most useful for your audience andFew readersCan I prioritize certain types of matching tags over others?
Yes, of course! We call it smart matching for a reason. As an organizer, you can weight each category of tags. As such, our algorithm knows to prioritize matching "essential" tag categories over everything else and to weight "important" as roughly 3x more importance than "regular" weight tag categories. For example, let's say a Training and Development leader is hosting a Meetaway to facilitate conversations between multiple offices across the world. Simple. Turn off "Individual Matching" and don't add A/B matching or tag matching. While targeted matching works best for most events, random matching works well for organizers looking to bring simplicity and randomness to their event.Few readers
