Can attendees request conversations with specific people?
Yes! In our mental model for events, organizers design the guidelines for the event and attendees are put in control within those boundaries. As such, attendees are in control of much of their experience because: 1) attendees know the details of who they want to meet better than anyone else and 2) organizers prefer to let attendees do the work or choosing their own matches since it's one less thing an organizer needs to do. Better and simpler = winning.
How to have attendees to choose their matches
By default, "Individual Matching" is turned on for new events. As such, attendees are able to review a directory of other attendees and their profiles as seen below.

From there, most attendees select a handful of the people they'd like to "Meet" and in some cases some they may want to "Avoid." Meetaway takes the individual preferences of all attendees and other matching variables (such as matching tags and any suggested matches the organizer may have made) and makes real-time matches based on all of this information.
In practice - if two people have both indicated they'd like to meet each other and show up for an event, then they almost certainly meet.
Additionally, to help build anticipation for the event, Meetaway's standard email reminders enable attendees to choose their matches before the event begins and Meetaway will also let attendees know if other people have indicated that they'd like to meet them.
